There's also the age issue. I wholeheartedly agree with the concept that women of any age have the ability to look modern and fashionable...style is not something reserved for twenty year olds...and there are plenty of inspirational examples of this (see Carine Roitfeld in my last post). However, some of the movie outfits definitely bring the words mutton and lamb to mind. Worse, a few ensembles are actually aging. The black outfit below is a good example as it seems to add about 10 years, and numerous wrinkles, to Parker.
It's all a little depressing. I was a fan of the television show...and I enjoyed Patricia Field's styling...but something's gone wrong. Like the once record-breaking athlete who comes out of retirement for "one more try" there's a hint of desperation. A sense of hopelessly trying to recapture something instead of moving forward with the times.
that dress looks AWFUL on her.. how could they put her in it?!
ReplyDeletei thought that was a zach posen dress
ReplyDeleteThe black, red, and blue bridesmaid dresses were Zac Posen but the wedding dress is Fall/Winter 07 Westwood. To be fair, it doesn't look that great on the model...
ReplyDeleteI feel like we're going to have to take a lot of these so-called sightings and "spoilers" with many, many grains of salt. These were the same people who filmed the series in the city over six years without giving too much away--something tells me all is not what it seems from the pictures that have been "leaked" to Page Six. Would they really want to leak what Carrie wears to wed Big this early in the game?
ReplyDeleteOf course, I could be thinking too optimistically. But despite Pat Field's sometimes insane style, the fourth and sixth seasons had the best wardrobes in my opinion--gorgeous and age-appropriate. There's a part of me that believes that she won't let us down.
The dress is awful, but so are most of the clothes in photos that are already released to the public. I've heard people say that the wedding scenes are dream sequences. Let's hope that's true.
