Hawkeye: Margaret, wasn’t this potholder supposed to be a scarf?
Margaret: It hasn’t been a scarf in weeks. I’m knitting a sweater for a pilot I met in Tokyo.

The onslaught of cold weather has ignited an urge to knit...something. The only question is...what? I lack the patience to attempt a sweater (and have a quarter of one lying around somewhere in testament to the fact)...don't need another scarf...and am, consequently, on the lookout for "options".
It's either that or morph into a version of Christine Aerfeldt's Standing Knitter (She Makes a Scarf She Will Never Wear) and begin bombarding Mr. Heb with crocheted cravats...
How about fingerless gloves? I made a pair of cashmere wrist warmers from a pattern in Last-Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. So easy and I live in them, indoors too. If you are a proficient knitter you can figure out the pattern yourself...tube with hole for thumb!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't begin to suggest anything, but whatever you wind up knitting, I'd love to see a photo of the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the most ambitious knitter; I've never attempted anything more difficult than a simple hat. But even I was able to complete a knitted obi sash belt from this book:

The book seems to be out of print, but I got it from my local library. I used Patons Brilliant yarn in Black Dazzle, which is black with a subtle metallic shimmer. It was an easy project, even for me!
