Travel broadens the mind...or so they say. It also exposes you (when you venture into the darkest recesses of an otherwise perfectly bland and generic hotel) to the kind of themed seafaring bar that would not be amiss in the Pirates of the Caribbean...complete, I might add, with Sinatra songs at 9 o'clock in the morning...and a busload of senior citizens for the mid-week lunch special. A watering hole made all the more curious by the fact that it is nowhere near the sea...
"There is nothing so desperately monotonous as the sea, and I no longer wonder at the cruelty of pirates." - James Russell Lowell
